There are actually a few flowers that are blooming in this cold never ending spring. The Fuschia love it of course and the mt laurel as well. The petunias are in a pot on the porch. A lot of the annuals I planted in a burst of optomism had dampened off. About to give up on cucumbers, I have planted them twice, each time they sprout and look around and fall over dead from shock.

Beading & Jewelry Making
FRI, JULY 9, 16, 23, 30, AUGUST 6, 13
Create unique, hand-crafted jewelry using semi-precious stones, wooden beads, pearls, metal wire and other natural materials, with jewelry designer Bonnie Rodgers. Basic stringing techniques, as well as more advanced techniques and projects are covered. July 9 session: Stringing and design introduction and practice with basic materials, supplies and beads. Project: Simple bracelet. This session is a pre-requisite for students with no jewelry-making experience. July 16 session: Introduction to the crimping technique with stringing wire and crimps. Project: Woven bead bracelet with stones and/or crystals and seed beads. July 23 session: Introduction to knotting. Project: “Treasure chest” or basic pearl or stone necklace. July 30 session: Introduction to wire working. Project: Copper chain necklace with hand-made wire and stone pendant. August 6 session: Wire project: Caged bead and frame pendant with brass or copper wire and satin cord. August 13 session: Introduction to clasp making with copper and/or brass and the making of ear wires. Practice with “forging metal wire”, including shaping, hammering for texture and work hardening the metal. Beading materials and tools are provided for each session. Felting & Quilting Intensive

Explore the techniques of felting and quilting in this 2-day intensive workshop with Wave Hill winter residency artist Liz Burow. Experiment with fiber, fabric and natural materials to create landscape-inspired artworks. Participants complete a felted piece to take home and then work on a ceremonial picnic quilt that will be finished during a public quilting bee to be displayed at Wave Hill. All materials included. Workshop fee: Member $120, Non-member $150. Registration required. 10AM–4PM
